Handsome Hubby & I Are Featured in Victorious By Design Magazine/I Will Be at the National Book Club Conference This Weekend!

As we close out July, I wanted to share that Handsome Hubby (my nickname for my husband) and I are featured in July’s issue of Victorious By Design Magazine ! In just over a week, we will be celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary!!! To God be the glory, particularly since before this relationship, I hadn’t had a relationship last longer than a year! Also, I will be one of the authors at National Book Club Conference (NBCC) this weekend! I will be selling copies of Destination Wedding! By far, meeting with book clubs has been the best part of this novel writing journey! So far, Destination Wedding has been read by 14 book clubs as far as I know, and I met with my last one just after I gave birth to the twins while I was in the hospital! Yes, through God’s grace, I was a soldier and Zoomed in from my hospital bed. That’s why I’m SO EXCITED about going to the NBCC! If you’re in the metro Atlanta area, I would love it if you could stop by and holla at your girl. By the way, there will be many other authors there including but not limited to: former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young (my favorite former mayor) Victoria Christopher Murray, Tia Williams and Vanessa Riley! Pastor Wayne Chaney of Preachers of L.A. Announces Divorce From Myesha Chaney On Social Media…

What is happening on the West Coast with cute and Christian celebrity couples?! Back in December, DeVon Franklin & Meagan Good announced on social media that their nine-year marriage was coming to an end and now, Pastor Wayne Chaney, who leads Antioch Church of Long Beach, has announced in an Open Letter on social media that he and his wife are getting divorced after nearly 17 years of marriage?! The announcement included five parts…I will post the entire announcement with some snippets below…

*Neither of us ever imagined, when we stood before one another, God and witnesses, in our early twenties, that our union would not endure a lifetime. Sadly, however, after nearly two decades together, Myesha and I mutually agree our time journeying together as husband and wife has come to a loving but necessary conclusion…

*It was not infidelity, abuse, or any gross immoral act that brought us to this point. Rather, we have simply evolved into expressly different people than we were in our early twenties when we eagerly clung to one another and set out to make a life for ourselves…

*While sharing this news with the church, Body of Christ and all who have been inspired by our marriage and ministry is difficult; it pales in comparison to the crushing pain of not being able to reconcile or fix the reality of my children’s deepest longing…

All heartbreaking, right? If you’re not familiar with Pastor Wayne Chaney, back in 2013, he along with several other pastors such as Bishop Noel Jones and Pastor Dietrick Haddon were featured on a reality show entitled “Preachers of L.A.” Click on this LINK to read one of my posts about the show. And I interviewed Myesha Chaney when she released her book “Hiding Behind the Lipstick.” Click on this LINK for that interview. I wonder why she didn’t include the divorce announcement on her page if it was a mutual decision. Additionally, what she did post is kind of mysterious. See her post below…

Finally, this post seems bittersweet…

I don’t want to question their judgment but if their pending divorce was not caused by any “infidelity, abuse, or any gross immoral act,” then what could possibly warrant breaking up after all that they have built together? But I guess that’s not for me to know…

I said this before, and I will say it again, barring “infidelity, abuse, or any gross immoral act,” I would have to be unhappy for a looong time before I consent to a divorce…but y’all, I cannot help but think the pandemic contributed even in a miniscule way…Of course I cannot say how, but I just believe I’m right…I truly think we will be experiencing the ravages of the pandemic for years to come…I’m referring to more than our health…

Let’s pray for the Chaneys…maybe they will find a way to come back together…All things are still possible with God…

Bishop Eddie Long’s Son Edward Long Releases Book ‘Son of a Bishop,’ Appears on YouTube’s Unwine With Tasha K…

So a lot went down when I was in the motherly way and I missed some things…but I’m trying to catch up!

I noticed through my analytics that a post I did on Bishop Eddie Long’s son Edward Long back in 2019(Bishop Eddie Long’s Son Edward Long Carves Out Radio Career Following Dr. Jamal Bryant Becoming New Birth Missionary Baptist Church’s Pastor… has been receiving a lot of attention lately so I Googled his name to determine why…After a few minutes, I realized why people were suddenly coming to After the Altar  Call to learn more about Edward Long…He was interviewed by Tasha K on her YouTube channel Unwine With Tasha K.  in April. (Yes, Cardi B.’s Tasha K…) I have yet to listen to the whole interview, but I plan to do so when I have time…

However, I missed that Edward Long released a book “Son of a Bishop” back in January…Below is the description of the book…

And the happiest news of this post is that Edward Long and his wife are expecting a baby as a baby shower was recently held according to his social media…See the picture below…I see his mother Mrs. Vanessa Long is in the picture as well…

I won’t rehash the allegations against Bishop Eddie Long in this post, but we all know what they were. And I’m not downplaying the allegations either…They were what they were…That being said, as a pastor’s daughter, I empathize with Edward Long the most. I’m glad that he is finding a way to reconcile his relationship with his deceased father and he is moving forward with his life…
