Hello World,

If you are a follower of this blog, you may know by now that my favorite Christian celebrity is Sherri Shepherd (one of the hosts from “The View”) which is why I was elated to feature an interview with her in my first book “After the Altar Call: The Sisters’ Guide to Developing a Personal Relationship With God.” Why is Sherri Shepherd my favorite Christian celebrity? She isn’t afraid to say what’s on her mind – whether she’s praising Jesus or Beyoncé, she is incredibly nice and she is glamorous! And now, she wants to help all of us be glamorous too!

Me and Sherri :)

Me and Sherri…Obviously, we had black and white on the brain…

I got a chance to see her again yesterday when she stopped by Beauty Master in Morrow, Georgia to present her new wig line LUXHAIR NOW! LUXEHAIR NOW consists of 12 wigs in various lengths, from short pixies to long, luscious waves and comes in 18 colors. And the best part is that Sherri’s collection ranges from $69-$89! Below is a my interview with her as well as some pics from her visit to the the beauty supply store…

On Why She Wears Wigs: “The women in my family have always worn wigs. To this day, I never go wig shopping alone so I love it for bonding. And for the practical aspect, I love the versatility of wigs, and sometimes your hair just needs a break. I like to go the gym and I’m always running around. The days of going to the beauty salon at 9 a.m. and staying until 2 are over so I love the practicality of wigs.”

On What Wig She is Wearing: “I’m wearing the Sleek Angle, and the color is a burgundy mix. I lost my voice. I went to Kandi’s (Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker from RHOA got got married in Atlanta on Friday, April 4) wedding and it was absolutely beautiful. I knew a lot of people would be hugging me so I knew this one would work.”

On Her Favorite Wigs: “One of my favorites is the Goddess Waves. I can channel my inner Sasha Fierce. I also like the Curl Intense wig which is a big curly wig. I wear that one when I rock my jeans and heels with a leather jacket.”

On What Wig Her Husband Sal Prefers: “Sal’s favorite is my natural hair. I usually wear my hair natural on the weekends. But Sal prefers my short wigs. He thinks sisters who wear short styles are the ultimate in confidence.”

On Her New Wig Line: “I’m very excited about my wig line. If I left this earth without a wig line or a bra line, something would be wrong. People tweet me all of the time about how I achieve my look. They are great quality and very affordable. My fans want to stretch their dollars.”

Below are a few of the wigs…

TI, T-Mo Goodie, Chuck D, Kool Moe Dee & Others Slated to Appear at Hymns & Hip Hop Conference Starting TODAY

Hello World,

The Hymns & Hip Hop Conference (H3C) is a three-day symposium ( March 28-30) hosted by the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, spiritual home of the Civil Rights trailblazer, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the location of The N.E.W. Leadership Academy.

On the days preceding the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. King, it is a largely significant call to unite the two most influential sectors of urban life to start building the community…together.

The conference was founded by Minister Cassandra Henderson and Rev. Michael Wortham in an effort to bridge the Hip Hop communitiy and the church community, the younger generation and its history, the sacred and the secular.

Saturday in the A – Featuring the AJC Decatur Book Festival

Hello World,

I just wanted to share a few pics of my weekend. I was one of several vendors that took part in the book market and street fair of the AJC Decatur Book Festival from Aug. 31 – Sept. 2. I shared Booth 208 with Dr. Pamela Thompson, author of  “Surviving Mama: Overcoming Strained Mother-Daughter Relationships,” and Judi Mason, author of  “The Chloe Chronicles: Life Lessons I Learned From My Cocker Spaniel” and “The Relationship Chronicles: Straight Talk, Real Love, No Drama!”

Setting up our booth…

Pam setting up her easel in front of our booth…

A cute replica of Chloe, Judi’s beloved “four-legged life coach,” was very popular with festivalgoers…
