The Anointed Pace Sisters Announce the Death of Duranice Pace…

Hello World,

The voices of the Anointed Pace Sisters are known throughout the country if not the world, but unfortunately for us one of those voices will be singing with God’s heavenly choir. As the group is based in Atlanta, local news station 11Alive featured memories of Duranice Pace. See below…

Legendary Atlanta gospel singing sensation and evangelist Duranice Pace has passed away at the age of 62 years old. Over the years, 11Alive has followed Pace’s journey as her powerful gift of singing touched lives all over the world. She was a proud member of the legendary gospel group ‘The Anointed Pace Sisters,’ alongside her siblings.

11Alive spoke with one of her sisters and her son to capture how they would like her to be remembered.

“Whether you knew my mom 30 years or 30 minutes, you know you felt the love of God through her,” her son, Demarcus Love, said.

Love said he’s thankful for the time he had with his mother.

“The love Mom gave, she gave to everyone,” he said. “Love is and will forever be her legacy.”

From the viral moments that gave people hope, to the big stage that energized her spirit, Pace transformed many lives.

“Your gift will make room for you,” Love said. “And will bring you before great men and that’s exactly what my mom’s gift did.”

I went to high school with the youngest Pace sisters Latrice and Lydia so this gospel group has always had a special pace in my heart. My sincere condolences to the friends, family members and loved ones of Duranice Pace. May God comfort them in their grief.

“After very prayerful consideration, Tommicus and I have decided to get a divorce,” she wrote, sharing a photo of the two and their children Tysun, 4 months, and Gianna Iman, 2. “It is my deepest desire for us to be loving co-parents and keep a peaceful environment out of respect for our children.”

My Sorority Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated Celebrates 108 Years of Service!

Hello World,

I know you don’t come here for the tea on Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, my beloved sorority, but allow me this  indulgence as Jan. 13 is my sorority’s Founders Day! Back in 2016, I was blessed to have the opportunity to share in my local newspaper The Atlanta Journal-Constitution why I wanted to pledge my sorority 26 years ago! Please see below…

My introduction to black Greek collegiate culture was the same as many of us who grew up in the ‘1990s, the golden age of black pop culture.

I tuned into “A Different World” week after week as a high school student. I remember the episode when Whitley pushed too hard while pledging her roommate Kim, who was attempting to be initiated into her sorority.

Whitley’s drill sergeant attitude backfires when Kim and the rest of the pledges simultaneously stop taking orders from her. In the span of the 30-minute sitcom, they, of course, work out their differences, becoming not only sisters in friendship but sorority sisters.

That sorority seed was planted then and began to grow when an older friend pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. at Wake Forest University. Read the rest of the story on ajc.com.
