Emerging Artist LaTisha Johnson Montgomery Releases Her Breakout Single ‘Though The Fire’ In Honor of Women’s History Month…

In honor of Women’s History Month new recording artist LaTisha Johnson Montgomery announces the release of her breakout single titled “Though The Fire.” Birthed from LaTisha’s personal testimony “Through The Fire” is dedicated to women who have been through the fire and struggles of life but made it out to share their story. On “Through The Fire” LaTisha teamed up with #1 Billboard Multi Charting & Grammy Nominated Producer Tedy P.

LaTisha Johnson Montgomery’s unique splash onto the gospel music scene is not a surprise for those who’ve encountered her. The soft spoken Fayetteville, Alabama native has been afforded opportunities singing the national anthem at countless college athletic events in the Alabama market as well as NBA playoff games for the LA Lakers & Utah Jazz).

More recently LaTisha’s unique tone, powerful vocal display and range has allowed her to open up at City Winery Atlanta for the 2023 Martin Luther King Celebration ft. Darlene McCoy as well as open up for Stillman College’s 2023 Homecoming Black history Month Kickoff featuring Bridgewater Music & Grammy Award Nominated artist Jekalyn Carr.

WHO IS LATISHA JOHNSON MONTGOMERY:
LaTisha Johnson Montgomery is an American singer/songwriter from Fayette, Alabama. She has a unique style of writing and singing which sets her apart. LaTisha began singing at the age of 7. In her adult years she would continue her journey in singing background for an all female quartet group which originated in Tuscaloosa.

LaTisha has become a sought out performer for opportunities singing the National Anthem for the University of Alabama Texas A&M’s sporting events, and the National Basketball Association (NBA) where she opened for the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers game during their regular season. Then later invited back twice for the Utah Jazz’s playoff season of 2021. In 2022 she performed or made appearances at numerous award shows, WATC TV (Atlanta Live), Birmingham Bowl which aired on ESPN. Laisha Johnson Montgomery journey has her prepped to be an artist to keep your eyes on in 2023. “Through The Fire” is currently available on all digital outlets.

NEW TRAILER: Stephanie Mills & Erica Campbell Star in Lifetime’s ‘Pride: A Seven Deadly Sins Story’ on April 8!

Following the immensely popular Seven Deadly Sins movies—Lust, Envy, Wrath and Greed—Lifetime continues the anthology with a new sin and new movie, Pride: A Seven Deadly Sins Story. Executive produced by T.D. Jakes, Derrick Williams and Shaun Robinson, and inspired by actual events, the movie centers on the story of a famous bakery owner and reality TV star Birdie Moore (Grammy-Award winner, Stephanie Mills) whose past secrets threaten the enormous success she has achieved. Joining Mills are co-stars Thomas “Nephew Tommy” Miles as Birdie’s son, Gabe Moore; Keeya King as her granddaughter, Ella Boudreaux; and Grammy-Award winner Erica Campbell as Pastor Trey. Pride: A Seven Deadly Sins Story premieres on Saturday, April 8 at 8/7c.

The prior Seven Deadly Sins Lifetime original movies – Lust, Envy, Wrath and Greed – attracted close to 7 million total viewers in 2022!

Pride: A Seven Deadly Sins Story tells the story of reality TV star Birdie Moore (Stephanie Mills), whose carefully constructed world starts to crumble — like the baked goods that catapulted her to fame — when her family secrets are brought to light. To salvage her legacy, Birdie must let go of the pride that estranged her from her daughter. Birdie’s pride also prevents her from seeing that her son Gabe Moore (Thomas Miles) is actually a thieving opportunist and that her granddaughter Ella Boudreaux (Keeya King) is just a lost twenty-something trying to build up her life after some missteps. While pride helped drive Birdie’s success, it also made her blind to what was happening around her. Will Birdie finally be able to see and admit the truth, or face the consequences of her pride?

The Seven Deadly Sins movie anthology is inspired by novels from author Victoria Christopher Murray, who is a consulting producer on Pride.

Meagan Good Tells ESSENCE Divorce from DeVon Franklin Was Nothing She ‘Would Have Ever Chosen,’ Reiterates She Wants Children…

I’m Back…Again…While away, I celebrated the first birthday of my M&M twins and did some freelance work. Mama only has so many hours in a day so it is what it is, saints. I don’t take any of you, my dear readers, for granted, but I do hope that you understand the rhythms and rigors of a working writer and now a working mama. Sometimes I think about getting help from outside sources so that I won’t have to take breaks from time to time, but I love my humble corner of the World Wide Web so much that I don’t think I could share it with anyone so…

But on to the subject of today’s post…

Color me confused…Last August, I shared that Meagan Good shared that contrary to what I thought, she does want to have a child and opposing stances on whether to have children was not what broke up Hollywood power couple DeVon Franklin and Meagan Good. Well in a recent interview with ESSENCE magazine, the Harlem star shared even more…

  “It’s nothing that I would have ever chosen, and when I realized that it was happening, I was devastated. I was like, ‘This is me, Lord. I did everything that I could do to the best of my ability. I don’t understand why I did all these things, and then this is my end result.’”

Good, who still considers Franklin “an incredible and beautiful person,” makes it a point to say there was never anything malicious done on either of their parts to hurt the other. As some suspected, this wasn’t about her not wanting children, she still does. And nothing about the book they published in 2017, The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love, was the least bit dishonest, she adds, though the circumstances of their union caused her to temporarily question that path.

“I struggled with that,” she admits. “I was like, ‘I don’t know if I should be celibate now. I don’t know what I should do.’ I even was at a point early on when I felt, obviously, I still believe in Jesus, but I’m not sure what to believe about anything else anymore.”

She also goes on to share it was her biggest fear that what happened to her parents, that they would be married for 10 years and then divorce. She also realized that while she does believe that God told her DeVon Franklin was her husband prior to them getting married, God also gives us free will. She wanted to be married forever, but DeVon apparently didn’t…

I agree that God does give us free will. That means that sometimes our choices put us outside of God’s will for our lives. So did DeVon Franklin step outside of the will of God in deciding to divorce Meagan Good? Perhaps. I know that according to God’s word, he hates divorce, but I also know His son Jesus died because we don’t always live up to God’s standards…

Since the two have shared so much about their relationship as relationship influencers, I’m glad Meagan is opening up more about what happened. And I think for the sake of credibility, DeVon should share more as well. This responsibility is why I shy away from monetizing my personal relationships. I’m willing to share some things as we all do in this social media age. However, I’m not willing to share erethang…

Still, as their sister in Christ, I wish them well in all of their endeavors, both personally and professionally. Life isn’t easy…Christian or otherwise… and life be lifin’ sometimes so that’s all I have to say on that…
