As a pastor’s daughter, I’ve been to many, many weddings over the years, and I still cannot get enough of them.  One of the most inspirational moments in life is when two people commit their lives to one another. No one can ever predict what will happen during the journey of life, but it’s comforting to know that whatever happens, there is someone by your side to help you live through all of your best and worst and everything-in-between moments…

I was especially encouraged by what my sorority sister and fellow Jamerican Slutty Vegan founder Pinky Cole told PEOPLE magazine about her wedding. She married the father of her children Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks CEO Derrick Hayes over the weekend here in Atlanta!

“It’s a fairytale, a Cinderella wedding,” Cole tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Just the other day, my mother saw me in my dress for the first time, and I never thought I would see myself in a wedding dress. It’s a dream come true because I’m doing something that no one in my family has ever done. To be the first to have a wedding is a big deal. I’m breaking generational patterns and creating a new one.”

As you can see above and on PEOPLE magazine’s website, Montell Jordan, an R&B legend turned  Victory World Church minister, was the officiant.  Actually, Montell and his wife Kristin are pre-marital and marriage counselors. As a surprise,  Montell performed “This Is How We Do It.” Additionally, gospel star Tasha Cobbs Leonard sang a beautiful rendition of country music star’s  Shania Twain’s hit “Still the One” as Pinky walked down the aisle.

My favorite moment was when her mother and godmother added some Caribbean spice to the wedding with a freestyle performance. For whatever reason, I’m unable to share all of the videos, so you have to go to Pinky’s IG page to see all of the fab videos!!!

Following the immensely popular Seven Deadly Sins movies —Lust, Envy, Wrath and Greed—Lifetime continues the anthology with a new sin and new movie, Pride: A Seven Deadly Sins Story. Executive produced by Bishop T.D. Jakes, Derrick Williams and Shaun Robinson, and inspired by actual events, the movie centers on the story of a famous bakery owner and reality TV star Birdie Moore (Grammy-Award winner, Stephanie Mills) whose past secrets threaten the enormous success she has achieved. Joining Mills are costars Thomas “Nephew Tommy” Miles as Birdie’s son, Gabe Moore; Keeya King as her granddaughter, Ella Boudreaux; and Grammy-Award winner Erica Campbell as Pastor Trey. Pride: A Seven Deadly Sins Story premieres on Saturday, April 8 at 8/7c. The prior Seven Deadly Sins Lifetime original movies – Lust, Envy, Wrath and Greed – attracted close to 7 million total viewers in 2022!

Pride: A Seven Deadly Sins Story tells the story of reality TV star Birdie Moore (Stephanie Mills), whose carefully constructed world starts to crumble — like the baked goods that catapulted her to fame — when her family secrets are brought to light. To salvage her legacy, Birdie must let go of the pride that estranged her from her daughter. Birdie’s pride also prevents her from seeing that her son Gabe Moore (Thomas Miles) is actually a thieving opportunist and that her granddaughter Ella Boudreaux (Keeya King) is just a lost twenty-something trying to build up her life after some missteps. While pride helped drive Birdie’s success, it also made her blind to what was happening around her. Will Birdie finally be able to see and admit the truth, or face the consequences of her pride?

Pride is directed by Troy Scott from a script written by Felicia Brooker. Award-winning composer and music director, Ray Chew, is the movie’s composer.

In addition to Stephanie Mills, Thomas Miles and Keeya King, the movie also stars Lucia Walters (Virgin River) as Shanice; and Jaime M. Callica (Ruthless) as Khalil.

The Seven Deadly Sins movie anthology is inspired by novels from author Victoria Christopher Murray, who is a consulting producer on Pride. Additionally, Pride, the novel, was released yesterday!

And most notably, she has quit her OnlyFans account which reportedly made her millions!!!

And she is telling anybody and everybody who will listen about her encounter with the Lord and she wants to be right with him as a result! She is definitely living life after the altar call… She was even on Tamron Hall talking about it!

 

Now I’m not one to idolize celebrity Christians (although this blog does highlight celebrity Christians) particularly when they have recently become Christians (I feel they need lots of time to grow in their faith like anyone else), but to turn your back on your former lifestyle in such a dramatic fashion is worthy of attention. And because I’m one to track every cent of my earnings, I’m especially intrigued that she has turned her back on millions. But all money is not good money. And no amount of money is worth your soul…

Thinking about Blac Chyna aka Angela’s turnaround on this Palm Sunday reminds about what a true encounter with Jesus Christ will do and makes me recall my early days in my journey with Jesus. Let’s pray for her because the devil and his demons are not pleased when we turn on our backs on him and live for the Lord. There will be temptations to turn away from the Lord, but we can all make it through prayer, a supportive Christian community and the power of God…

I’m rooting for you Angela (her preferred name as of now)…
